Overview

money.com.my is a Malaysian personal finance information website. We publish financial data sourced from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), along with editorial guides and analysis. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

We collect very little personal data. We do not require user accounts, we do not sell data to third parties, and we do not run targeted advertising.

What we collect

Newsletter email address

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address in a Supabase database. This is used solely to send you newsletter emails. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email, and we will delete your address from our database upon request.

Analytics data (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and which tools are used most. GA4 collects anonymised data including IP address (which Google truncates), browser type, device type, and referring URL. This data is processed by Google under their privacy policy. We do not combine analytics data with any personally identifiable information.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs standard request data including IP addresses, request timestamps, and URLs visited. These logs are retained by Vercel under their privacy policy and are used for security and performance monitoring.

Cookies

money.com.my uses cookies set by Google Analytics to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These are first-party cookies with names such as _ga and _ga_*. They expire after 13 months.

We do not use cookies for advertising, personalisation, or cross-site tracking. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings — the site will continue to function normally.

Third-party embeds

Some pages embed YouTube videos to supplement our written guides. When a YouTube embed loads, Google may set cookies and collect data according to Google's privacy policy. We use the privacy-enhanced embed mode (youtube-nocookie.com) where available to minimise data collection.

Third-party links

Our guides link to external websites including bank product pages, government portals, and financial institutions. Some of these may be affiliate links — these are always disclosed on the page. Once you leave money.com.my, the privacy practices of the destination site apply. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Data retention

Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (the GA4 default). Server logs are retained by Vercel according to their standard retention schedule.

Your rights

Under the Malaysia Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data held by us
  • Correct any inaccurate personal data
  • Withdraw consent for us to process your data
  • Request deletion of your personal data

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
