JomPAY

A national bill payment scheme in Malaysia that lets you pay bills through your bank's app or online banking using a Biller Code and a Reference Number printed on the bill. It is designed specifically for recurring bills rather than person-to-person transfers.

JomPAY appears on utility bills, insurance and takaful notices, loan statements, and many other invoices as a Biller Code and Ref-1 number. You enter those into your banking app, and the payment is routed to the right organisation and matched to your account automatically, which reduces the risk of a misposted payment. It works across participating Malaysian banks, so you are not tied to the bank the biller uses.

The practical value of JomPAY is reliable, traceable bill payment: because each biller has a fixed code and your reference number identifies your account, payments are less likely to go missing than a plain bank transfer. For bills you pay every month, many banks let you save JomPAY billers or set up scheduled payments, which helps avoid late fees on things like loans, insurance, and astro or broadband subscriptions.
