e-Filing (MyTax)

LHDN's online portal for filing your annual income tax return. Most Malaysian taxpayers submit their return through MyTax / e-Filing rather than on paper, and refunds are processed faster this way.

Through the MyTax portal you log in, select the correct form for your income type (for example the BE form for resident individuals with employment income), and the system pre-fills employer-reported figures and your PCB. You then declare any additional income, enter your reliefs and rebates, and the portal calculates whether you owe a balance or are due a refund. Filing online is generally available from early in the year, with a deadline that differs for employment income versus business income.

First-time filers need to register for an income tax number and a digital certificate or login credential before using e-Filing. File on time to avoid penalties, and keep supporting documents โ€” receipts for reliefs, zakat slips, donation receipts โ€” for seven years in case LHDN reviews your return. Refunds for over-deducted PCB are typically credited to your bank account within weeks of a clean submission.
