The theringgit app

A free app for iPhone and Android with the Ringgit Brief, My Money, the aid calendar and today's rates.

Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

What the app does

Brief
The Ringgit Brief: the latest issues, newest first, readable in the app.
My Money
Pick a few answers about your household from lists and see an estimate of what STR, SARA and BUDI95 may pay it. It is an estimate, not a decision on whether you qualify.
Aid calendar
When the next payments and rule changes for government aid are due.
Today's rates
Fuel prices, exchange rates and the OPR, as cards you can add, remove and reorder.

Not a government app

theringgit is not a government app and is not connected to any ministry or agency. It never asks for your IC number, bank details, OTP or login. To apply for or check an aid scheme, use the scheme's own .gov.my website; the app links to it.

What stays on your phone, and what the app asks for

On your phone only: the cards you chose and their order, whether you finished the welcome steps, the last figures the app received and, if you use My Money, your answers there (the kind of household, its income band, number of children, whether it is listed in eKasih, and whether someone holds a driving licence). Your answers are never sent, and the estimate is worked out on your phone. Clear my answers, or deleting the app, removes them.

What it asks money.com.my for:the list of cards, the figures on the cards you chose, the aid rules, the aid calendar and the latest Brief issues. A request for a card's figures names the card, for example fuel prices. Like any internet request, each one carries your IP address.

There is no account or sign-in, and no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools. The app does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or notifications. Read the full privacy policy.
